Based on their travels around the world, the Greetings from Denton and Jae card line is the latest collaboration between photographer Denton Morris and writer Jae-Ha Kim. Their photo journalistic pieces about French Polynesia, Australia and Scotland have appeared on the covers of travel sections nationwide. The arresting photos Morris shot became the inspiration for their line of cards, which were such a hit with family and friends that the duo was inspired to market the cards.
Already, the line has a loyal following of celebrity fans, including Harry Lennix (Commander Lock in the "Matrix" films), Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen, actress and clothing designer Lori Petty, and the founders of DuWop Cosmetics. Singer Leigh Nash ("Kiss Me," "There She Goes") says, "What's great about these cards is you can send them to someone for no reason at all, other than to express that you wanted them to have something beautiful that day."
The majority of cards are blank, with images of lambs from the Orkney Islands, orchids from Tahiti and flora from New Zealand gracing the front. But the line has expanded to include sayings as well. A favorite is a photo of two tiny lambs with the phrase, "I've got your baaack" on the inside.
